They do not follow the laws. I was offered to rend a room ( chambre de bonne) of 4m2 (Loi Carrez), saying that it is 10m2. Though you can stand only in 1/3 of the room and the entire room doesn't have 10m2(au sol). It was said furnished (meublé), the law has a list of what should be inside including even the plates and spoons. For those "professionals" furnished is to put a bed, even without fridge or cooking plates. Then they asked to make a deposit for garanty and the first month of rent without giving the key, saying they will give in a couple of weeks, and without any paper confirming the deposit (receipt). I left. Just aweful!
